This is exactly what the strike suit's missle launchers ends up doing.In the year 2299, an interstellar war rages on. The names of the strike suits missle launchers, the Raptors "MTAM Itano" and the standard strike suits "MTAM Circus" are possibly a reference to the term "Itano Circus." This term came from the Anime series Macross, where a single fighter or jet fires off a ridiculous amount of missles, then the missles begin doing insane and fancy maneuvers across one another. The Phantasma was released on Maas the Raptor Strike Suit, a fast, close-combat suit armed with shotgun-style arm cannons and lighter, faster-locking "MTAM Itano" missiles. The commentary in the art book hints that different types of Strike Suits maybe released "later on". The game's Strike Suit code named: Durandal is shown along with two other designs: Aura and Phantasma. In the collectors art book it is stated that the Strike Suit that appears in the game was one of many designs made by Junji Okubo. Switching to Strike Mode makes it easier to aim at enemies but it also makes it easier for the enemies to aim at you. While its weapons are enhanced its shields and armor are not. The Strike Suit can't fly very fast in Strike Mode but it can strafe from side to side and turn quickly. Instead the Strike Suit gains the ability to automatically track locked targets by holding the thruster key and the ability to quickly dodge to the side in order to avoid missiles. In Strike Mode the suit loses the ability to use thrusters or deploy an EMP blast. Flux is drained everytime a weapon is fired while in Strike Mode. The Strike Suit gains a small amount of Flux over time but it can quickly gain Flux by destroying targets and taking damage. The individual missiles seem almost impossible to evade and have damage dealing capabilities similar to a S2SFCM Mk 2.Īll the weapons in Strike Mode are powered by a special fold energy called Flux. The Multi-missile launchers have the ability to lock on to multiple targets (all other missiles in the game can only lock on to a single target.) before firing which is highly useful for destroying large concentrations of fighters or stripping the turrets off capital ships. The auto-cannon has a similar range to a machine gun but is far more powerful, capable of shredding most types of fighter-craft with ease. In Strike Mode the suit's Player assigned weapons are replaced by a pair of auto-cannon and multi-missile launchers. The Apex Fighter could be considered to have superior firepower since it has more plasma cannons and is capable of carrying more missiles, but this is before one factors in the abilities of Strike Mode. In terms of basic stats it is similar to the Apex Fighter only with less armour. It has the unique ability to transform between "pursuit mode" where it's basically a regular fighter craft and "strike mode" where it becomes a humanoid mecha. The Strike Suit has two plasma cannon slots, a machine gun mount and two missile slots. The ship was designed by the entity known as Control at the Thule Research Facility. The suit can also absorb ambient levels of fold energy over time as well as residual energy discharged from localized weapon impacts. The stored flux will eventually deplete and the strike suit will revert to its default state. Strike mode channels a special kind of fold energy called flux into its weapons – reducing forward thrust but enhancing weapon power and maneuverability. However its primary feature is its ability to transform into strike mode. Its default state is pursuit mode in which the strike suit looks and acts like a fighter craft.
